This was an interesting week. We had to animate a pendulum attached to a block. The block can move however we see fit, but we must maintain the guiding principle of "overlap" on the pendulum in reference to the block's movement. For example, if the block shoots out from the starting position and comes to an abrupt stop, then the pendulum must react accordingly. To make matters more interesting the pendulum has three degree's of freedom, and each of those free links needs to "overlap" with the other to create the sweeping motion of a tail. This assignment by far was the most fun.
In addition to this weeks assignment I had to revise my work on week 5's obstacle course. Here is the revised clip:
It's interesting coming from an engineering background and applying what I do on a daily basis to the principles of animation. I thought being an engineer was going to be a hindrance, but my mentor is helping me see the value in it and how to apply that knowledge properly. Again, Anthony Wong rocks as a mentor. He makes you stick to the fundamentals and pushes you to go beyond where you are at.
See ya next post...
